So this pirate walks into a BARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

There has been nothing in my life more disappointing than the second Pirates of the Caribbean Movie. It was far too long with far too little good stuff. All of the jokes were re-used. Everything about the movie seemed to be filler. Well supposedly this is for a good reason. Today the trailer for the third and final chapter in the "Pirates" series has been released and I do have to say that it looks promising. The whole concept of "Davey Jones" being an actual person from the second movie was the only thing in the movie that made it worth watching. While Jones himself did not have enough screen time, the concept of his underwater army and the whole story line with the heart of the ocean was brilliant. I can honestly say that the second movie was an amazing concept with piss poor execution. There were too many stabs at attempts to be funny and far too few cool character scenes like we saw in the first one. I was absolutely extatic when captain Barbosa made his appearance in the last scene of the second movie. In my opinion, this is one of the most brilliantly designed and cleverly acted villains in a long time. I can only hope that the third installment will not do what the previous installment did and ultimately end up being a burnt out joke fest with no good story. Im hoping that the trailer for this movie depicts it well by showing it as an action packed character driven blockbuster fest that all us summer movie fans are dieing to put into the "guilty pleasures, bad but I still love watching it over and over" closet. The first movie still serves as a FANTASTIC movie to watch on a rainy day and never seems to get old. Well just for yourself. do me a favor and leave me a comment of two and let me know what you think! I plan on catching the midnight of this one as well. Amongst other things in this trailer there we have Chow Yun Fat making his appearance as another pirate lord. You cant go wrong with that! Anyhow check it out for yourself.

is this a blog or a movie review site? Hehe just kidding!

I completely agree! I thought that the second Pirates was entirely too long, and the plot wandered around all the way to the end just so you could find out that there indeed will be a third film.

I hope that the third one will be more satisfying. The first one, in my opinion was a great all around film. Memorable characters, brilliant actors, and engaging plot. And amazingly, it was a family film by Disney. Making it family accessible and at the same time making it a good, engaging movie can be a daunting task, but the first Pirates rose to that challenge. The second one fell flat. Let's hope that the third one completes the wave and brings us out of this trough and back to the crest. Argh!
